I have a large number of 35mm slides, achieved dating back to the late 1970s and they were scanned sometime around the year 2000, when I got into the digital age.  Our Son, Bill Jr., brought a computer home while he was on home leave from the US Navy and we set up a dial-up connection, of which that was all there was back then.......grin if you must!  The computer was free, but I probably spent close to 3K dollars getting all the needed peripherals; noticed I said needed and not wanted which consisted of a digital camera, dedicated film media scanner, Photosmart color printer, CD storage drive, etc.  I wasn't quite a newbie to the computer age; having installed our first computer at the NCDOC Polkton, NC which was a Tandy 500 or 800 back in the early 1980s, can't remember which not sure of the computer model numbers either.  That was about the time the Commodore 64 pc was on the scene around 1982.  No hard drives on the computers, just a floppy disk and I mean the real floppy disk!

As usual, I get somewhat side tracked, but you know that is my MO.  I trashed probably close to a 1000 slides that were out of focus enough to where they were not usable.  Back then, I needed glasses and my Nikon F2AS camera was manual through the lens focusing and that was the problem.  

Now, back to the slides taken on June 3, 1979, of which after scanning them this afternoon, there are many, many of our Church members have gone on to be with our Lord.  Our Pastor was Ray Ted Lewis and I got several pictures of him and a couple of his wife.  I didn't see a single picture that I took of my bride and that has too be very unusual, unless it was some of the slides taken that were badly out of focus.

I don't remember anything that stuck out like a sore thumb and the pictures will have to speak for themselves.  I do know, any homecoming the Wadesboro Church of God had, the food was outstanding along with the fellowship.  As a small boy, I remember my Grandma Coley would prepare a very large pot of Chicken and Dumplings and Grace Burr would do the same for our annual homecoming.

I don't believe Kodak did the processing of those slides, of which the quality suffers for sure and that is my bad!  Back then, you had to send your Kodachrome film directly to a Kodak processing facility and you got a first quality product back....."most of the time, you get what you pay for!"

In closing, time waits for no one and eventually, we will be added to those memories from past.
