STEAMED CORN ON THE COB

INGREDIENTS:

Fresh or frozen corn on the cob, whole or mini-ears
Water
Sea Salt (to taste)
Butter

Using a medium size steamer pasta pot on high heat, add one quart of water and place corn on the cob in the upper steamer basket and bring to a rolling boil and reduce heat to medium-low and steam for about 10 to 20 minutes until corn is tender. Remove corn from steamer basket and salt to taste and butter to taste.

NOTE:  Steamed corn on the cob to me has more of the natural corn flavor than the boiled method which stands to reason; you are boiling all your nutrients out of the corn!  The above mini corn on the cob after steaming looks beautimous!  See my pots n pans short story about my favorite pots n pans which gives the details of the above multi-purpose pasta pot.

ALTERNATE MICROWAVE CORN ON THE COB

Use fresh corn on the cob in the shuck.  Cut butt end of cob off about 2 inches from the end.  Place in microwave on high for 3 to 4 minutes depending on the power of your microwave.  At the end of cooking time, remove corn from microwave using a glove, etc.  Grasp cob of corn by the end with the tassels and invert to vertical position and give it a few good shakes and the corn will leave the shuck without any tassels.  Below a couple pixs of the end process:

There are many YouTube videos showing the process which is as simple as it gets.  Spread butter on corn while hot and salt to your taste.

Above microwave corn on the cob served with Parmesan Chicken Cutlets and Steamed Broccoli With Cheese Sauce.
