PIZZA CASSEROLE
INGREDIENTS:
1 lb. ground beef 80/20 or leaner or venison burger - no fat added
1 lb. hot sausage or venison burger- no fat added
1 24 oz. box Kraft Velveeta shells and cheese (prepare per package
instructions)
1 24 oz. jar
Newman's
Own Sockarooni spaghetti sauce
1 12 oz. jar Prego Pizzeria Style Pizza Sauce
1/2 cup white or yellow onion thinly sliced or diced (Use
Vidalia onion when in season)
1/2 red bell pepper thinly sliced or diced
1/2 green bell pepper thinly sliced or diced
1/2 cup red onion thinly sliced
2 cloves garlic, minced fine
8 oz. fresh mushrooms thinly sliced, your choice
5 oz. sliced pepperoni
1 lb. grated Sharp Cheddar Cheese
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil if using ground venison
1 teaspoon
Morton table salt - to taste
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black peppercorns
(Tellicherry)
- to taste
1/2 teaspoon Wild
Bill's Meat Rub
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Prepare Kraft Velveeta shells and cheese per
package instructions. While pasta is boiling, add ground beef and sausage
and/or ground venison to a large skillet over medium heat. If using
ground venison, brown in 2 tablespoons olive oil. Add onions,
bell pepper, mushrooms, garlic, salt, black pepper, Wild Bill's Meat Rub and cook
until meat is brown and veggies are al dente. Drain excess fat from the
mixture if using ground beef and sausage. Add spaghetti sauces and
simmer 10 additional minutes.
Spray a 9 x 13 inch oven proof dish or a deep casserole dish with non-stick vegetable spray.
Add cooked shells and cheese, then layer with the meat veggie mixture, add a
layer of sliced pepperoni and top with grated cheese. Place in 350 degree F.
oven for 30 minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly. Let rest 5 to
10 minutes and serve with home made garlic bread and a
tossed salad or sides
of your choice. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley or green onions.
YIELD: 12 large servings.
Above pizza casserole prepared on 05-09-17 and was outstanding. My
bride enjoyed it very much too. I didn't use fresh sliced mushrooms this
time, but will do so when I do the recipe again. You can kick the
recipe up a notch by using hot peppers, but my bride can't take too much
spice and heat, therefore normally leave those items off or use just a "tad" of
them.
KRAFT VELVEETA SHELLS BOX RECIPE
1 regular box (12 oz.) Kraft Velveeta shells and cheese (prepare per
package instructions)
1 pound ground beef
1 small jar pizza sauce
5 oz. sliced pepperoni
2 cups cheese
Brown ground beef and drain excess fat, add pizza sauce. Layer the
following in a 9 x 13 inch oven proof casserole dish; Velveeta shells
with cheese, meat sauce mixture, pepperoni and top with cheese. Bake at 350 degrees F. for 30 minutes.

I used the mint leaves for a little "eye
candy" for the camera.......grin if you must!
You can cut the recipe in half and use a regular 12 oz. box of the Kraft
Velveeta shells and cheese if desired.

My bride and myself certainly enjoyed a good helping of it.
Plan to freeze some for later usage and enjoy another helping tomorrow,
