IMPOSSIBLE VENISON CHEESEBURGER PIE
1 1/2 to 2 lbs. ground venison, no fat added
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
1 1/2 teaspoons
Morton table salt
1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black peppercorns
1/2 teaspoon Wild Bill's Meat Rub
1 1/2 cups chopped onion
1 bag (12 oz) Green Giant™ Steamers™ frozen mixed vegetables (optional)
1 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
2 cups whole milk
4 eggs, beaten
2 cups shredded Sharp Cheddar cheese (8 oz)
Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 13x9-inch (3-quart) glass baking dish with
cooking spray. In a large skillet add olive oil and cook venison and
onion over medium-high heat; add salt, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, Wild Bill's Meat Rub stirring
frequently, until venison is brown. Spread mixture in dish. Top
evenly with frozen mixed vegetables. In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, milk
and eggs with wire whisk until blended. Pour into baking dish.
Bake 30 minutes. Sprinkle evenly with cheese; bake 10 minutes longer
or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Cut into squares.
YIELD: 8 to 12 servings
This is a generic recipe found in various cookbooks and internet sites
for impossible cheeseburger pie and substituted ground venison instead of beef and my own
house seasoning mix, etc.
