Not being a purist for this recipe and being somewhat frugal,
I use whatever bread I have on hand; Italian sliced bread or in loaf
form, French or regular burger buns and coat each piece of bread evenly top
and bottom with the above mixture using a pastry brush. If using whole
loaf, slice each piece about 1 inch thick. Arrange bread on a cookie
sheet or baking pan and bake in pre-heated 375 degree oven for 5 minutes
until bottom begins to turn golden brown. Turn oven off and set broil
to high and broil until golden brown and dark around the edges and center is
Serve immediately or store in a bread basket covered with a towel until
ready to use.
